I decided to give a shot at VMware ESXi. We don’t have very many x86 servers that we can virtualize, but I suppose it is worth looking into. If we can even get 3 down to 1 that would be a good thing I suppose. It would certainly free up some rack space. For my initial testing I will be building my ESXi server on my Mac using VMware Fusion. This should be fun.

If the initial test works out okay and looks like it is worth doing then I will do a full test on our backup/test Arena server. It would certainly be nice to do my initial test on a decent system, but for now my laptop will have to do. I found a short video on youtube awhile ago that talks about how to install ESX in Fusion. ESXi should be pretty similar.
