Anime Review: Amnesia

April 28, 2014

One morning, our heroine awakens to a world and a life she doesn’t know. One she doesn’t remember. All her memories have been lost. A spirit named Orion is the only one who knows the secret about her lost memory. In fact he is the cause of her memory loss, having “bumped” into her own spirit when he transitioned to this world. She is living her life day by day, not knowing what came before. Her friends believe her to just be having a “rough time” as, with the help of Orion, she is able to mostly bluff her way through things.

What will become of Heroine? Just what are the relationships she has with all the guys around her? Just as she thinks she is starting to get a handle on what is going on things get worse. She was begun to feel like even without her past memories she can manage to live her life. Then the unthinkable happens. She wakes up one morning to find things have taken another twist. She has awoken to an alternate reality, or was the reality she was in the alternate and she is now in the true reality. Can this girl without memories manage to get through life? Will it be possible to get through life or will things keep changing for her?

The dress and costumes in this show are absolutely fantastic and very creative. Everything has a “deck of cards” theme of some sort, from small tattoos to entire costumes that look like they are right out of Alice in Wonderland or something. While the story itself might feel a bit lacking because there is a lot to keep track of and can feel overwhelming, the characters, “makeup” and dress style make up for it. To be sure it is always nice and refreshing to see a good Anime that doesn’t have 90% of it’s setting inside a school.
